I guess I should tell my brother-in-law Nixon about this watches designer. . He would be amazed to learn about ‘his’ own brand name.

Yeah, I’m talking about nixon the private watches brand. It’s lovely (see the white watch here on the left? That’s my pick!)

A single nixon unit costs around $100 – or less when there are ongoing sales, like this month – which is a steal if you consider the detail put in each design. I think Nixon would like the idea of a watch that carries his name. Who knows? If I manage to save up enough money this December, I may buy one for him as a Christmas present. I don’t think he would be displeased.

Academy-wise, lectures started this week. I’m now a 3rd year student, looking forward to write a brilliant thesis next semester. Of course, this year won’t be the last: I’m specializing in Interplanetary Travel and Astronomy starting 2012, so there is more studying on my horizon. I must admit I feel excited.

I don’t know if Chrissa will be able to follow suit. She’s having a lot of financial issues this year, she risked not paying her tuition twice and we have to thank my grandfather if she’s still a student. Her dad has a new job now, but he’s still an intern in some departments, so he’s not earning a lot. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for them. I’d hate not to see Chrissa at lectures anymore. :(

Money is tight, so I’m trying to save up on books too. There are several projects online to help student with free versions of books. Some are a little outdated, but who cares? As long as it’s legal and useful, it’s all good. I like the project LiberLiber.it (Italian) for example; there are several classical books and scientific papers that are like evergreen trees: they’re never outdated, always beautiful.
