College textbooks: sometimes we buy for nothing

Academy textbooks are getting expensive… Right now I’m waiting for classes to start, together with Chrissa, and we just read a notice left on blackboard that we need to buy additional books for Discrete Mathematics, Differential Geometry, Ancient History and Astrophysics II. o.o

Aside from the fact that it really seems to be too early to buy these books – since two of these subject start next year and not now – what really shocks me is that they just left this notice and did not provide a code for our discount textbook cards that we usually get every semester for our textbooks.

As for the useless textbooks that two of my teachers (I won’t say the names to spare them undeserved advertisement) had us buy and never use for the whole 1st semester, I think I’ve found a place where to sell them and get some cash back: SellTextbooks.net. They pay the shipping so all I have to do from there is put the books in the mail and send. Hassle-free. ^^ That way, the books don’t get wasted, and my parents will be able to see some cash returned from the buying site.

I really hate seeing my parents spend money for us and then everything turns out useless. We’re a big family, money doesn’t grow on trees like apples, and carefree spending is not allowed. There’s nothing worse and more disappointing than seeing your sacrifices go to waste, and especially since you know that you could use that money in a better way, like helping your siblings and friends.

Academy textbooks, college textbooks… our teachers should be careful on what they tell us to order, because once the order is being shipped, it can’t be cancelled anymore. And we are forced to throw our money away. :( That’s NOT right.

I’m glad we can still sell our unused textbooks, because they’re still new and many students could benefit from them; AND we could get a partial refund of what we spent. So, for now I need to check my savings and see whether I can afford the newly requested textbooks on my own or ask my parents or grandpa for extra cash. :sigh: I SO don’t like asking for money!!!

Well, my Ancient History teacher just came in, so I’m going to conclude this long rant now, and close ToyHeart.com. :) See you later guys!

P.S. Please let me know where I could find some textbooks in PDF format to save up on shipping costs! It’s also more environment friendly, and I’d love to contribute. ;)
